Following the opening video package the camera pans around the Don Coleman Coliseum, an empty four thousand seat basketball arena set up for a wrestling show with the ring in the middle. From the stage way eight bright blue fireworks flare up the venue with a thunderous bang. Continuing to zoom around, the camera finally settles in the ring where Timothy Duke is standing by, mic in hand dressed in a tuxedo. There's two director style chairs facing each other just behind him.
Duke: And welcome to the pre-show for OUTLAW’S maiden tour DEAD OR ALIVE! You're with me Timothy Duke and over the next hour we will be talking with the first eight competitors to step into this ring. During the next three weeks a grand prix style tournament will crown our first OUTLAW WORLD CHAMPION.
Timothy Duke takes a step back to sit in one of the chairs. The camera focuses on him looking towards the stage way.
Duke: The cult hero of Texas wrestling Jesse Wild Buck Roscoe has co-founded everything you see there, to build a new brand in independent wrestling. This is where king’s road meets southern resslin. Respecting the whole way of doing things wrapped up in a brand new presentation. We’ll talk to the man himself later, but first we’re gonna meet with the other seven outlaw’s that have put pen to paper and set out on a new trail to settle the west. Ladies and gentlemen you’ve seen in other companies, you’ve seen him take on legends and watched this man become one of the best in the industry. BIG MATCH JOHN BLADE.
The Time is now ft John Cena and Trademark plays out as John Blade steps out onto the stage. A huge smile is across his face as he walks towards the ring to meet Duke for an interview. Duke claps in his direction as a sign of respect. As Blade comes around ringside Dean Wolf jumps the guard rail and assaults Blade from behind. The attack throws Blade up against the ring apron, Wolf wastes no time to continue throwing punches to the back of Blade’s head and rib cage. Blade tries to cover up but the onslaught is too much. Blade slumps up against the steel steps.
Duke leans over the ropes as if to attempt to break up the attack. Wolf shoots him a stare making Duke back off. Wolf takes a few steps back allowing for a run up to dive a knee into Blades head against the steel steps.
Duke: Can we get some help out here.
Wolf grabs the attention of the cameras to show off a pair of knuckle busters he pulls out of his pocket, and slowly slides them on to his fist.
Wolf: Best in the business my ass!
Several backstage personnel sprit out into the ringside area and step between the men before Wolf has the chance to use the knuckle busters. Blade has to he helped up to his feet as Wolf laughs in his face. The two men share an awkward stare in between a barricade of bodies splitting them up. Blade refuses medical attention and starts to walk back up the stage.
Duke: Dean Wolf, you care to come in here and tell us what that’s about?
Wolf throws up gun gestures towards Duke and pulls the triggers before leaving ringside the way he came through the arena. Duke turns back to the camera.
Duke: Whoa, what an explosive way to start our show. Dean Wolf there, is OUTLAW’s newest signing but is not a part of the Dead or Alive Grand Prix. I guess he’s gunning for John Blade….and me maybe. We’ve gone a little off script here so let’s go to this video introducing the next man that’s a part of our tournament - Kodo Dragon.
We cut to a video montage of Kodo Dragon in a white komodo meditating and performing Ti Chi completely alone in a Japanese zen garden.
“I joined outlaw wrestling as a fresh start. Every place I have wrestled has insulted me. You ignorant Americans don’t seem to understand the world and culture beyond your land. Not everyone on this planet is as self centred and disrespectful as you. But here your culture and mine meet. But we will see, I don’t have much hope for that.”
The video continues on to a montage of Kodo preparing a katana and posing with it in strong martial arts poses.
“This company looks like a joke as much as the rest of them on this degenerate land. Are we playing cowboys and indians? Fine, play your games but don’t cry when i actually hurt you. Outlaws are just criminals. Gunslingers are fools with dangerous weapons. Cowboys are farmers. I am a trained samurai! Watashi wa anata o korosu koto ga dekimasu! I am far more dangerous than any of you children playing games. Anata wa watashi no torianingu ni ochirudeshou! I am a trained killer! Night one Dorian Rhodes. Good luck.”
Kodo swings the katana and in one strike slices clean through the trunk of the tree stood centre in the peaceful zen garden.
We open up back in the ring with Timothy Duke.
Duke: And we are back ladies and gents. Next up we are going to talk with a man i’m a little hesitant to bring out, and i imagine he’s not going to have too much to say. He’s up for a fight and has nothing to prove. He’s only known as SAVAGE!
Feuer Frei by Rammstein blares out as Savage immediately marches out from the stage. He locks eyes with Timothy Duke and doesn’t break it while storming into the ring. He slowly climbs up the arpon with one step not breaking that gaze once. Duke gestures for him to take the spare seat yet Savage favours towering above Duke intimidating him.
Duke: Well….eurm…
Savage rips the mic out of Duke’s hand and in one motion lobs it into the stands. It comes crashing down making a loud screech over the speakers. Duke tries to avoid Savage’s stare obviously feeling awkward with that act of violence.
Savage: YOU FORCE ME OUT HERE AGAIN I’LL SNAP YOUR F-BEEP-ING NECK.
He soccer kicks the chair into the ropes and it crumbles to the mat. Savage climbs out the ring and looks back to pull his finger across his neck in Duke's direction whilst slowly walking backwards up to the stage. Duke does his best to avoid the threat and compose himself for the camera.
Duke: Let’s cut. Cut. Go backstage to Kayla Reid.
The big screen flashes with footage of the backstage area. The lovely Kayla Reid is with English rookie Ulysses Dare, directing his gaze towards the camera. Dare's agent Pablo Abraxas slithers into Kayla, stretching a brawny arm around her. The other member of the rookie entourage, Viola Cassiel, cautiously shuffles behind the others, somewhat obscured from view.
Kayla Reid: Ulysses Dare, why did you sign with OUTLAW?
As she tilts the mic towards Dare, the sleazebag Abraxas leans in.
Pablo Abraxas: This is destiny, Kayla! Ulysses is here to usher in the new radiant glow of awakening. To manifest the Universe's design for the age of enlightenment. Ulysses will DOMINATE, DESTROY then... RESCUE these Outlaws from their pathetic karmic peril. With my steering, this gifted being will change the world!
Kayla: Great... but I want to hear from Ulysses. Pablo, please just... sorry.
He raises his eyebrows and smiles through gritted teeth. Dare sighs and stares into space, piecing together his thoughts.
Ulysses Dare: Look, I ain't gonna pretend this was some child'ood dream or anyfin'. Child'ood was survival, end of story. Didn't 'av time to dream, never mind study the "RASSLIN'" business. This ain't a labour of love. This is a work of war, yeah? Uly D's a fighter, always 'as been. This is a natural transition, innit? Sorry I can't be all grandiose and s#&t but truth's truth, know what I mean? Glory don't motivate me. Gold neither. This is about revenge, blood. Society always condemned me the turd on their collective shoe... the outlaw. Well, I can't wait to stick their judgement up their entitled arses. If I'm an OUTLAW, may as well be the mo'-f%@!#n' KING of the OUTLAWS.
Kayla: Who are you looking forward to competing with in the grand prix?
Dare: It's all about Kodo Dragon, if 'e makes it to the final, mate. I'm defo gonna be there so... ya know, 'e gonna 'av to deliver 'is end of the deal. Simple reason's the clash of styles, ya get me? 'e got them ballerina MMA moves and that Samurai vibe. Ya don't meet much of that flavour on the streets of London, feel me, girl? S#&t's way more... agricultural. Don't misconstrue... I'm gonna maul 'im, darlin', like all them other d?^k necks. But least I get to play some diverse disciplines, innit?
Kayla: How have to prepared for a career in wrestling?
Pablo interjects.
Pablo Abraxas: That's my job. Uly's talent plus my nurture equals v...
Kayla: PABLO! I'm asking Ulysses.
Dare: Uly D may be lacking some ring etiquette but I been throwin' bones to stone since day dot. I was never the agreeable kind and the streets I call 'ome invite a whole 'ost of disagreeables. I got done takin' bare amount of batterin's years ago. Make no mistake, I'm the perennial FN hunter; famdem better pray I don't make them prey.
Kayla: Do you feel you only have this oppertunity because of your contacts?
Abraxas smirks. Dare arches his body towards Kayla, confrontationally.
Dare: Who gives a flyin' gonad? I didn't ask for the waste of space "Dad" to finally give two s%$ts and drag me 'alfway round the world to Texas. I didn't beg on my knees for Pablo to see stardust in me. Uly D never meant for Waylon to pop a dollar-boner when 'e witnessed my tryout. I'd rather lurk in the shadows like I 'av my entire bloody life... buttttt I fink we're a little past that point, alright.
Kayla: Are your managers hoing to be involved in matches?
Dare: Pablo and Vi' know that the second they breech those ropes, I'ma knock them spark out. It's more than debatable if I need them at all... certainly ain't requirin' their combat skills, ya get me?
Kayla: Actually, that was a question for you two.
Pablo Abraxas: Oh, I can speak now? Well, I choose not to. I'm sensing energy vampire energies off you, Kayla. Farewell. Come on, Uly, let's go.
Pablo grabs Dare by the arm and leads him away from the interview. Viola follows, tentatively.
Kayla: Viola, what about you?
She stares with concern at the departing Ulysses and Pablo and shrugs at Kayla.
Viola: Sorry, gotta go.
Kayla faces the camera, regaining composure.
Kayla: Well there you have it, folks. The anticipation for his debut is growing. Ulysses Dare has arrived! We’ll bet right back after this.
Back in the ring with Timothy Duke.
Duke: Welcome back wrestling fans, we’ve composed ourselves here and are ready to meet the next competitor. A man that's well travelled across Japan and Mexico and excited to apply his knowledge here in OUTLAW wrestling. The Promethean, DORIAN RHODES!
Kingdom by Downstait plays for only a minute before cutting out. Dorian Rhodes has walked out on to the stage with his own mic in hand. He shoots Timothy Duke a grin as he saunters to the ring.
Rhodes: Thank you Duke for having me out here and giving the new superstars of day and tomorrow precious screen time. I want to bring out a friend if you don’t mind Duke.
She Looks Good by Jim Johnston plays as Latoya Hixx struts out and joins Rhodes on the ramps. He gives her a high before they continue on to the ring to meet Duke.
Duke: The first faction we have here in OUTLAW wrestling. Dorian Rhodes has set up The Next Generation Superstars and already signed up Latoya Hixx. What makes this doubly interesting is that they are both in the same bracket of the tournament and face off one on one on night two.
Both competitors have climbed into the ring and sat at the stalls opposite Duke.
Rhodes: I promise you we’re not going to be assaulting you like your other interviewees.
Duke: It’s great to finally have someone out here who’s not going to threaten me. Let me start off by asking you, why OUTLAW?
Rhodes: I chose Outlaw Wrestling because it was partially owned by Jesse Roscoe. A cult legend within the inner circles of wrestling. I wanted to have the opportunity to learn and train under the Wild Buck.
Duke: So how do you feel about the possibility of competing with Roscoe?
Rhodes: Honestly, I'm looking forward to meeting in the ring with Jesse Roscoe. I'm a confident kind of guy and I'm expected to be looking across from the old guy if he can make it to the finals. I'll guess we'll see what happens. There's some tough competition already signed on to compete in Outlaw.
Duke: And you you Latoya, why OUTLAW?
Hixx: My last company I was working with had shut down and Rhodes reached out to be a part of the NGS.
Duke: Well I’m glad you brought that I wanted to… oh sorry guys i’m told there's something happening backstage.
We cut to the parking garage where John Blade and Dean Wolf are throwing down going punch for punch. Wolf misses and Blade gets an underhook into his gut followed by a knee. With Wolf bent over Blade grabs him by the neck and sets up for a suplex onto the concrete. Wolf sandbags his weight to stop it. Wolf slips out and throws a few forearms that Blade just eats and follows up with a big boot stumbling Wolf backwards.
Blade steps in with a massive strike that gets the better of Wolf sending him backwards against a car. Blade swings forward with the finishing blow but Wolf moves leaving Blade to punch in the car window. The glass shatters and Blade’s fist is immediately bloody.
OUTLAW officials come running into the garage. Instead of capitalising Wolf decides to walk away and out of the arena. Blade looks to follow but the officials get in the way trying to calm him down.
We come back to the ring where Rhodes and Hixx are waiting to finish up their interview. Rhodes looks annoyed but isn’t being rude about it. He stares down Duke waiting for the next question.
Duke: Sorry guys for the interruption. So Blade and Wolf continued their brawl into the back but before all that I was asking you about NGS, Next Generation Superstars.
Rhodes: Yes Tim. So I haven't been in the States very long but I understand that not everybody gets the advantage of training at such a young age. I started training at 15 yrs old at my dad's wrestling school in San Francisco, CA and then moved to Mexico after I graduated from high school. After spending a year and a half in Mexico I went to Japan for another year and a half to train in the strong style. Not many get the opportunity to travel through Mexico and Japan to learn from some of the greats. I realized when I came back to wrestle in Outlaw that I had something to offer. So I started n.G.s. to take some people under my wing to help give them that same head start that I got.
Duke: And Hixx is your first ‘student’?
Hixx: That’s not what this is. But you’ll notice I'm the only woman currently on the roster so I’ll be training with Dorian to perfect my skills against the rest of the boys.
Duke: Well you’ve both covered how you feel about competing against each other on night two. So instead I'll just end this with asking you what your objective with NGS is?
Rhodes: I think the one number one goal would be to show the fans and guys and girls in the locker room that we're the collective best. That regardless of who we stand in the ring with we're going to come out on top. We're going to bring the sports best and youngest to that Superstar status that will lead this industry into the future.
Duke: That's for you time.
Rhodes leans over to grab Dukes hand in an aggressive handshake. Respectful but frustrated.
Duke: Another pre-taped interview now, with the biggest villain in Texas. He’s Texas Terry James.
Texas Terry is sitting alone in a dark room. He’s unfashionably wearing a tracksuit and a stetson.
Texas Terry: I’m here in OUTLAW wrestling for one thing. To get revenge on Jesse Roscoe. For you new ‘fans’ that are treating him as if he’s the best thing to ever come out of Texas, here's a quick history lesson for ya. Fifteen years ago me and him were coming up together. We were forced together as a team, and for a year hated each other's company but we won, alot. After a year we bonded and we became like brothers! We’d have taken a bullet for each other. And like all your dad’s favourite rock bands one member ruins the glory for the rest of us. Roscoe decides he’s gonna go solo leaving me to fend for myself. I’ll never forgive that as-bleep-ole for dropping me like week old tuna. Then he goes and rewrites history. Writes me out of his. Well, i’m writing your future boy. And Texas Terry is gonna retire you Jesse. Watch you back Wild Buck!
Back from the advert in the ring again Jesse ‘Wild Buck’ Roscoe joins Timothy Duke.
Duke: It’s great to have you out here boss. Now are you out here as the wrestler or as the boss.
Roscoe: Well hell Duke, straight to damn business huh? How you doing son?
Duke: I’m okay sir.
Roscoe: You’ve had quite a journey here tonight haven't ya? Not made too many friends in the process, but hey that’s what this biz is all about?
Duke: Well i tried to be as….
Roscoe: Anyway boy we do have some business to attend to. After tonight’s craziness between Blade and Wolf we are booking them to go one on one in the main event of night two next Wednesday!
Duke: That’s a huge match!
Roscoe: Sure is son. Now we all know the winner of the Dead or Alive Grand Prix will see the crowning of our first champion. I want to announce officially that the two runners up will meet in a contenders match for a shot at the champion at Highway to Hell. Which is one of three major shows in our January tour WRECKAGE. But between DOA and Wreckage we are putting together a two part christmas special WINTER IS COMING. On night one group a and group b of DOA will be against each other in team warfare. The team that wins the most matches on that night will all be in a gauntlet match with the champion on night two.
Duke: Whoa, there is alot coming up in the next month.
Roscoe: It’s all in the spirit of competition! I love the roster we’ve built so far and can’t wait to see the performance they all put in. We are building something special here. We are the outcasts of wrestling. We are going to show the world that wrestling ain’t pretty. It’s brutal and violent. It’s a mess and it’s damn well crazy. You've already seen that tonight. We are the WILD WEST of PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING!
Duke: That’s all we got time for tonight, Thank you Jesse Roscoe. And thank you to the rest of the roster. We’ll see you tomorrow for night one of OUTLAW WRESTLING’S DEAD or ALIVE.
